Born on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus, Chris Kole moved to New York in the late 1970’s where he attended the Fashion Institute of Technology. After working as a designer for a number of well-known fashion houses, he started his own label in the early 1990’s. Over the years, the Chris Kole label has become one of the most respected names in the ready-to-wear and custom Evening & Special Occasion market. His client list is a veritable who’s who of American Society and includes individuals as diverse as Hillary Clinton, legendary jazz singer Nancy Wilson, celebrity actress Ali Landry, TV personality Mary Hart, socialite Melania Knauss-Trump and Grammy award winner Jill Scott. He has served as a judge on the Miss USA pageant and his designs are regularly featured on television and Broadway in shows such as CBS’s “The Wheel of Fortune” and the musical “Footloose”. More recently, Chris Kole Couture was featured in the 2007 Tyler Perry movie, “Why Did I Get Married?” In 2007 Chris introduced “The Cotton Bride”, his new couture bridal collection using cotton, and other natural fabrics. Following classic couture design and workmanship principles, The Cotton Bride was the first bridal collection of its kind and was immediately heralded as one of the most exciting new lines in the bridal market. Despite his success, Chris is a private and industrious individual who remains intimately involved with every aspect of the company that bears his label and of which he is the sole owner. All garments in the Chris Kole Couture and The Cotton Bride collections are made by hand at the company’s main design studios in New York and can be ordered in North America through Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and specialty boutiques throughout the United States and Canada.
